War In Sacramento, Or So It Seemed
I was sound asleep, dreaming away. That’s when it happened. I knew my life was totally changed.
I was awakened by what sounded like an explosion, and I could even feel the noise vibrating through the house. Boom! Boom! I jumped out of bed and ran to the French doors to look outside. My dogs were frantic, running to the doors to look out with me. I didn’t see anything unusual. The huge boom noise happened again, this time even louder.
What I initially figured was the air force base testing something turned out to be far more than that. We’re under attack....there’s been some major explosions, or we’ve been bombed somewhere, I was thinking. I ran to turn on the TV.... nothing yet, as the regular show was still on. "I’ve got to go get my kids," I thought. I was shaking.
All of a sudden there was a huge cloudburst. It was downpouring. I hugged my dogs and burst into tears. It was only a thunderstorm.
The last two weeks have really gotten to me. I don’t think going to war is the only answer.
